WTF: Words as Weapons: What “Junkie” Really Says About Us #2
May 14, 2025A Walk Through Berlin
I was walking through Berlin today.
The city was alive. Spring in the air.
People sipping overpriced matcha. New Birkis. Croissants in hand. Business as usual.
The Ones We Don’t Want to See
And then I saw them —
the people we don’t really want to look at.
The ones on the sidewalk.
Sleeping. Wandering. Forgotten.
The ones society has decided to name:
Junkies.
The Word That Hit Me
And suddenly, something clicked in me.
Something that hit so hard it stopped me in my tracks.
“Junkie.”
That word comes from “junk.”
Let that land for a moment.
Every time we say that word — even casually, even silently in our heads —
what are we really saying?
“You are junk.”
Not human.
Not soul.
Not story.
Not someone’s child.
Not someone’s body that couldn’t hold the pain.
Just junk.
Let’s Define It
💗 Let’s define it.
Junk (noun):
• Something of little value
• Trash
• Something to be discarded
• Worthless
• Useless
• Unwanted
Now imagine calling a living, breathing human —
a person who has fallen out of the system,
who has likely experienced unspeakable trauma,
who has been crushed under the weight of life itself —
“junk.”
Not because we’re cruel.
But because that’s the language we’ve inherited.
Because we’ve been conditioned to dehumanize what makes us uncomfortable.
The Spiritual Frequency of Words
❤️ Here’s where it gets spiritual.
Words aren’t just words.
Words carry frequency.
And every word you speak is an energetic transmission.
When someone you love looks at you and says “I love you,”
you feel it. Your chest softens. Something opens.
Your nervous system receives.
And if that’s true…
Then the opposite is also true.
When we say, think, or even silently label someone “junk”…
that transmission goes somewhere.
It’s felt.
By them. By the field.
By the energy we all swim in.
Not Political—Energetic
This is not about being “politically correct.”
This is about being energetically clean.
About no longer casually sending soul-shrinking frequencies into the field
because we’re too numb to see what we’re really doing.
We don’t like to think about pain.
We don’t like to look at suffering.
So we rename it. Label it. Push it away.
But what if our words are part of the system that keeps suffering in place?
🛑 WTF Are We Actually Doing Here?
How have we become so casual with our cruelty?
How have we normalized language that programs people into invisibility?
How have we built a world where calling someone “junk” is more accepted than asking them what happened?
Why the WTF Series Exists
This is why the WTF Series exists.
To question.
To wake up.
To see the systems hiding in plain sight — not just in business, but in speech, in culture, in how we treat those who scare us.
Because maybe the healing of this planet doesn’t begin with new policies or systems —
maybe it begins with how we speak.
What we project.
What we choose to name or refuse to see.
I don’t have all the answers.
But I do know this:
I never want to look at a soul again and call it junk.
Even in my head.
Even for a second.
In Love and Abundance,
Jeanine
